Do we really have no time?
Maybe we just don’t have the energy?
Or perhaps we are just not focused?
An interesting theory that I came across in the past, in the context of productivity, refers exactly to this → T.E.A
Time, Energy, Attention
According to the theory, most of the challenges we face fall into three categories – time, energy and attention.
To better understand where our challenge is and how to approach it, we must first understand –
Do we really have no time?
Maybe we just don’t have the energy?
Or perhaps we are just not focused?
In every situation, we have to act in a slightly different way to face the challenge.
In short, what are the possible situations?
There is time , there is energy, there is no attention → Distracted
There is time, there is no energy, there is attention → Exhausted
There is no time, there is energy, there is attention → Overwhelmed
Every time I asked people I worked with on this topic, we were able to pinpoint and find the key element to work on in order to be more relaxed and productive.
In a nutshell:
Distracted → Emphasis on focus, goals and neutralizing distractions
Exhausted → Emphasis on routines, rest, sport activity and nutrition
Overwhelmed→ Emphasis on strategy, organization and planning the tasks that need to be completed
As soon as we understand where the challenge is, we can act on it. Over time, we will become more productive because we will plan our schedule accordingly. If you tell me that it’s all of the above (no time, no energy and no attention), we will sit together until we get to the bottom of it and determine what the main thing is that delays and disturbs you. We’ll start from there. We’ll move forward slowly, step by step. That’s what I’m here for
We all say N-Zman (“there is no time” in Hebrew), but there is something we can do about it!
